Michael Bevilacqua

American Michael Bevilacqua (b. 1966) works within a kaleidoscope of personal and iconic motives and symbols. His paintings owe a great deal to the pop art practice where everyday life, consumerism and media phenomena are being sampled in colorful collages. There is no separation between high and low culture. Classical stillife motives are combined with mass culture phenomena. Cartoon figures, fashion house logos and references to music are all combined in a dense narrative structure open to free association and interpretation.
