Katharina Grosse

German artist Katharina Grosse's (b. 1961) paintings are full of color and energy. With spray guns and enormous gesticulation she literally attacks walls, ceilings and floors with paint. She captures the dimensions of a space by adding color to all accessible surfaces. Included in the large scale paintings are also different kinds of objects such as balloons, furniture, books and piles of soil, which are equally covered with paint. Her expressive manner and her personal style always turn out spectacular and consistent, whether she occupies an old museum space or a facade in Berlin.

Katharina Grosse visited the workshop in 2007 where she made the series Fo' Faux Rocks consisting of three lithographs. During the process of making the series some of the experimenting pieces turned into a number of unique monographs. While experimenting with the graphic media Grosse transformed her spatial excellence into space full layers of paint. By using her expressive method she created beautiful abstract pieces characteristic of her way of mixing colors and creating space.
