Andreas Golder The paintings of Russian/German artist Andreas Golder (b. 1979) shift between being scary depictions of torn human bodies and humorous cartoon like scenes with plenty of color and paint. Golder's paintings are full of expressive directness. Human flesh, eyeballs and skulls are presented directly in your face. Symbols of memento mori are turned upside down when human parts are turned inside out in an almost ridiculous way. At the same time there is seriousness in Golder's skilful painting techniques. He knows his way around naturalistic depictions and also likes to be playful about it. In Golder's painting you get skilful realism, colorful abstraction and always something unexpected as if the painting itself has surprised him. News |
